Gita 10.9 Bhagavad Gita
📖 Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 10 — Vibhuti Yoga
मच्चित्ता मद्गतप्राणा बोधयन्तः परस्परम् ।
कथयन्तश्च मां नित्यं तुष्यन्ति च रमन्ति च ॥
Macchitta madgataprana bodhayantah parasparam,
Kathayantashcha mam nityam tushyanti cha ramanti cha.
मच्चित्ताः
with minds fixed on Me
मद्गतप्राणाः
with life-breath dedicated to Me
बोधयन्तः
awakening — enlightening
परस्परम्
each other
कथयन्तः
speaking of — sharing stories
च माम् नित्यम्
and about Me always
तुष्यन्ति
feel satisfied — are content
च रमन्ति च
and rejoice

A gentle portrait of what a devoted life actually looks like. Their minds are in Krishna. Their breath is in Krishna. They sit together and speak of Him. They awaken each other's understanding. And from this, they feel deeply satisfied and joyful. No strain, no effort, no hardship — just a natural way of living.

Bodhayantah parasparam — awakening each other. This is the true meaning of satsang. When two or three people gather and speak of the divine, something sparks between them. Each person's understanding grows through the other's words. The Gita here values shared practice over solitary practice. A lamp lit from another lamp loses nothing and gains everything.

This shloka unfolds the phrase bhavasamanvitah from 10.8. What does heartfelt devotion look like in daily life? This shloka paints the picture: mind, breath, and speech — all aligned in one direction.

Chapter 12 (Bhakti Yoga) also describes such devotees. Reading 10.9 alongside the twelfth chapter gives the complete portrait of devotion in the Gita.
