Nanto'sti Mama Divyanam

Gita 10.40 Bhagavad Gita
📖 Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 10 — Vibhuti Yoga
नान्तोऽस्ति मम दिव्यानां विभूतीनां परन्तप ।

Nanto'sti mama divyanam vibhootinam parantapa,

An honest admission from the divine itself. O Parantapa, there is no end to My manifestations. What I have described is merely a sampling — an indication, not a catalogue. This acknowledgment is itself a vibhuti: the ability to recognize that a complete self-description is impossible.

This shloka frees the reader. Do not think, after reading this list, that the divine is only these things. The examples are pointers, not boundaries. Whatever is excellent, whatever is beautiful, whatever carries power — all of it is a vibhuti. The list was always meant to be open-ended.

This is the counterpart to 10.19, where Krishna said: I shall tell you the principal ones. Here in 10.40, He confirms: yes, that was only a selection. The full extent is endless.

There is a certain humility in this statement. The divine Himself says: I cannot fully describe Myself. This is an acknowledgment of the vastness of lived experience.
