The final shloka of the fifth chapter. Krishna speaks directly: whoever knows Me in this threefold way — as the recipient of all yajna and tapas, as the great lord of all worlds, and as the friend of all living beings — that person attains peace.

Three identities Krishna reveals about himself. First, he is the one who receives the offerings of sacrifice and austerity. Second, he is the sovereign of all realms. And third — the most intimate — he is the suhrid, the friend, of every living creature. Not a distant judge. Not a stern enforcer. A friend. Whoever understands this finds peace.

The word 'suhridam' stands out among all the titles. A suhrid is someone who wishes well for you without wanting anything in return. Knowing the Paramatma as that kind of companion transforms fear into trust, and restlessness into stillness.

This is the closing shloka of Chapter 5. The entire chapter dealt with the unity of karma, sannyasa, and jnana — and this verse wraps it all into devotion to God. Tradition holds 'suhridam sarva-bhutanam' among the sweetest phrases in the entire Gita: the Paramatma is not only great — he is our friend.
