O descendant of Bharata (Arjuna)

The entire chapter has been building to this moment. Knowledge, yajna, karma, the fire that burns bondage, the boat that crosses sin — all of it funnels into this final command. Krishna says: therefore, with the sword of knowledge, cut the doubt that sits in your heart — the doubt born of ignorance. Take refuge in yoga. And arise, O Bharata!

The word 'uttishtha' — arise — rings out across the battlefield and across the centuries. It is not meant for Arjuna alone. It reaches every person who has ever sat paralyzed by inner confusion, waiting for clarity before they could move. Krishna's answer is clear: the clarity comes from action. The sword is already in your hand. Use it. Stand up.

This is the closing shloka of Chapter 4, Gyana Karma Sannyasa Yoga. Krishna's concluding words are not philosophical but imperative: cut, rise, act.

Chapter 5 (Karma Sannyasa Yoga) will begin with Arjuna's next question: between sannyasa (renunciation of action) and karma yoga (action in yoga), which is better?
