Ye Me Matam Idam Nityam

Gita 3.31 Bhagavad Gita
📖 Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 3 — Karma Yoga
ये मे मतमिदं नित्यमनुतिष्ठन्ति मानवाः ।
श्रद्धावन्तोऽनसूयन्तो मुच्यन्ते तेऽपि कर्मभिः ॥
Ye me matam idam nityam anutishthanti manavah
Shraddhavanto'nasuyanto muchyante te'pi karmabhih
ये
those who
मे मतम् इदम्
this teaching of Mine
नित्यम्
always, constantly
अनुतिष्ठन्ति
follow, practice
मानवाः
people
श्रद्धावन्तः
full of faith
अनसूयन्तः
without fault-finding, without resentment
मुच्यन्ते
are freed
ते अपि
they too
कर्मभिः
from the bondage of karma

Krishna offers a quiet assurance. Those who follow this teaching — even without perfect understanding — but with faith and an open heart, free from cynicism, are released from the binding power of karma.

The phrase 'te api' (they too) is generous. You do not need to be a philosopher. You do not need to grasp every metaphysical subtlety. Shraddha (faith) and anasuya (freedom from fault-finding) are enough to begin the journey. Practice what you understand. Trust what you cannot yet see. And the teaching will do its work.

This follows 3.30 and describes the result for those who accept Krishna's instruction. Two qualities are singled out as essential: faith and the absence of cynicism.

Gita 18.68-18.69 similarly praises those who share and follow this teaching with devotion.
