Ye Tvetad Abhyasuyantah

Gita 3.32 Bhagavad Gita
📖 Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 3 — Karma Yoga
ये त्वेतदभ्यसूयन्तो नानुतिष्ठन्ति मे मतम् ।
सर्वज्ञानविमूढांस्तान्विद्धि नष्टानचेतसः ॥
Ye tvetad abhyasuyanto nanutishthanti me matam
Sarva jnana vimudhams tan viddhi nashtan achetasah
ये तु
but those who
एतत्
this teaching
अभ्यसूयन्तः
finding fault, resenting
न अनुतिष्ठन्ति
do not follow
मे मतम्
My teaching
सर्वज्ञानविमूढान्
deluded in all knowledge
तान् विद्धि
know them to be
नष्टान्
lost, ruined
अचेतसः
without discernment

The other side of 3.31. Those who approach this teaching with resentment, picking it apart with cynicism rather than engaging with it honestly, remain trapped. Their intellect, clouded by objections, cannot penetrate to the truth.

Krishna does not say these people are evil. He says they are vimudhah — confused, lost. Their discernment has stopped functioning. The issue is not intelligence. It is attitude. A mind closed by suspicion cannot receive even the clearest teaching. An open mind, even a slow one, eventually finds its way.

This is the flip side of 3.31. Without faith, practice is impossible. Without practice, freedom from karma does not come.

Gita 4.40 states the same idea from a different angle: 'The one without faith perishes.'
