from Your nectar-like words

The highest compliment a listener can give a speaker. Arjuna says: Your words are like amrita — nectar. I keep listening, and the thirst never ends. There is no satiation. When this kind of bond forms between speaker and listener, knowledge truly flows.

Amritam — nectar. The Gita uses this word for knowledge repeatedly. Just as amrita does not quench thirst in the ordinary way but removes the fear of death, the words of the Gita remain fresh no matter how many times they are heard. Each listening reveals a new layer. The fear of the world diminishes with every hearing.

This is the last of Arjuna's three shlokas (10.16-18). In 10.16 he made the request. In 10.17 he asked how. In 10.18 he expressed his love for what he has heard. From 10.19, Krishna will respond.

The word amrita appears several times in the Gita — in 9.20, in 18.37, and here in 10.18 from Arjuna's own mouth. Its use here shows the depth of his spiritual receptivity.
