Arjuna now asks directly: tell me everything, leave nothing out. He wants to know the specific manifestations through which Krishna pervades all the worlds. This question is the doorway to the next eighteen shlokas of the vibhuti catalogue.

Vyapya tishthasi — pervading, You remain. These words matter. Krishna is not only in heaven or only in a temple. He pervades the mountain, the river, the sun, the mind — every corner of existence. This is the core vision of Vibhuti Yoga: the sacred is not somewhere else. It is everywhere, already.

This is the first of three shlokas (10.16-18) in which Arjuna asks Krishna to describe His vibhutis. Three times he asks — a measure of how intense his curiosity has become.

The Gita's question-and-answer structure is essential to its method. The student's question opens the door for the teacher's answer. Shloka 10.16 is the door that opens the vibhuti catalogue of 10.20-42.
