Sanjay narrates: "O descendant of Bharata, when Arjuna made this request, Krishna drove that magnificent chariot and parked it right between the two armies." No discussion, no delay. Krishna simply does what his friend asks.

Two remarkable names appear here. Hrishikesha — master of the senses — is Krishna, the one who governs the senses of every living being. Gudakesha — conqueror of sleep — is Arjuna, a warrior so disciplined that even sleep could not defeat him. The chariot holds two extraordinary beings: one who rules all creation, and one who has mastered his own body.

Krishna says nothing in response to Arjuna's request. A true friend and a true charioteer fulfills the wish without argument. But Krishna knows what this "looking" will lead to. He drives the chariot forward anyway.

Sanjay addresses Dhritarashtra as "Bharata" — reminding the blind king that he too belongs to the great Bharata dynasty that produced both the Pandavas and the Kauravas. Parking the chariot between the armies sounds like a small act. But this is the exact moment from which the entire Gita will be born.
