Mantra 1
नमो दुन्दुभ्याय चाहनन्याय च ।
Namo dundubhyaya chaahananyaya cha |

to the one who beats the kettledrum
आहनन्याय
to the one who plays instruments
Salutation to Rudra who beats the kettledrum and plays divine instruments.
Mantra 2
नमो ध्रष्णवे च प्रमृशाय च ।
Namo dhrashnave cha pramrishaaya cha |
ध्रष्णवे
to the courageous one
प्रमृशाय
to the one whose touch grants grace
Salutation to Rudra — courageous and gracious, whose touch is a blessing.
Mantra 3
नमो नीलग्रीवाय च शितिकण्ठाय च ।
Namo nilagriivaaya cha shitikanthaaya cha |
नीलग्रीवाय
to the blue-throated one (Nilakantha)
शितिकण्ठाय
to the white-throated one
Salutation to the blue-throated Rudra — the one who held the poison — and also to the white-throated form.
Mantra 4
नमः कपर्दिने च व्युप्तकेशाय च ।
Namah kapardine cha vyuptakeshaaya cha |
कपर्दिने
to the one with matted hair
व्युप्तकेशाय
to the one with shaved head
Salutation to Rudra with matted locks — and also to the form with a shaved head. The same divine presence dwells in seemingly opposite forms.
Mantra 5
नमः सहस्राक्षाय च शतधन्वने च ।
Namah sahasrakshaaya cha shatadhanvane cha |
सहस्राक्षाय
to the thousand-eyed one
शतधन्वने
to the one bearing a hundred bows
Salutation to Rudra with a thousand eyes and a hundred bows.
Mantra 6
नमो गिरिशाय च शिपिविष्टाय च ।
Namo girishaaya cha shipivishhtaaya cha |
गिरिशाय
to the one who dwells on the mountain
शिपिविष्टाय
to the one who pervades sunbeams
Salutation to Rudra who is enthroned on the mountain and who pervades every ray of sunlight.

The seventh anuvak describes Rudra's celebrated forms — Nilakantha (the blue-throated one), Kapardi (the matted-haired one), Sahasraksha (the thousand-eyed), Girisha (the mountain-dweller). The vision here is striking: even seemingly opposite attributes — matted hair and shaved head — are both Rudra.
