Yogis act through the body, mind, intellect, and senses — but without attachment. And the purpose of their action? Purification of the self. Not recognition. Not reward. Purification.

Think of an elderly grandmother who sweeps the house every day — not for anyone's praise, not for any payment. It is simply her way, her discipline. In the same way, every action of the yogi becomes a means of inner cleansing.

This shloka clarifies the purpose of Karma Yoga: action is not for accumulation but for atma-shuddhi (self-purification). That is the difference between attached action and the yogi's action. Tradition regards self-purification as the first goal of Karma Yoga. Once the mind is purified, the dawn of knowledge follows naturally.
