Krishna now offers himself as the example. Across all three worlds — earth, the heavens, the realms beyond — there is nothing he needs to do, nothing left for him to gain. He is already complete in every way. And yet, he acts.

Let that sink in. The one who has everything, who needs nothing, who lacks nothing — still works. Still engages. Still moves through the world with purpose. If this is true for Krishna, how much more does it apply to ordinary mortals? The argument is unanswerable.

This is the divine counterpart to the Janaka example in 3.20. Janaka was a human king who attained perfection through action. Krishna is the Supreme Being who continues to act despite having nothing to gain.

Verses 3.23 and 3.24 will explain what would happen if Krishna stopped acting — the consequences for all of creation.
