A turning point. Krishna pauses, looks at Arjuna, and says: everything I have told you so far belongs to Sankhya — the path of understanding the nature of things. Now listen to the wisdom of Yoga — the path of action. Armed with this understanding, you will break free from the bondage of karma.
Two roads, one destination. Sankhya asks: what is the truth? Yoga asks: how do I live by that truth? The first is insight; the second is practice. Krishna has spent the last twenty-eight shlokas building the insight. Now he turns to the question every listener has been waiting for: what do I actually do with this knowledge?
The promise is striking — 'karmabandham prahasyasi' — you will cast off the bondage of karma entirely. Not reduce it, not manage it, but shed it altogether. Actions bind only when they are driven by desire and attachment. Performed with the right understanding, they set you free.
