Manmana Bhava Madbhakto

Gita 18.65 Bhagavad Gita
📖 Bhagavad Gita, Chapter 18 — Moksha Sannyasa Yoga
मन्मना भव मद्भक्तो मद्याजी मां नमस्कुरु ।
मामेवैष्यसि सत्यं ते प्रतिजाने प्रियोऽसि मे ॥
Manmana bhava madbhakto madyaji mam namaskuru
Mam evaishyasi satyam te pratijane priyo asi me
मन्मनाः
fix your mind on Me
मद्भक्तः
be My devotee
मद्याजी
worship Me, offer your actions to Me
माम् नमस्कुरु
bow to Me, offer your reverence
माम् एव एष्यसि
you will come to Me alone
सत्यम् प्रतिजाने
I give you My true promise, I pledge in truth
प्रियः असि मे
you are dear to Me

Four simple instructions: fix your mind on Me, be My devotee, worship Me, bow to Me. And a promise backed by Krishna's own word: you will come to Me. This is truth — I pledge it. Because you are dear to Me.

These four acts are not rituals to be performed mechanically. They describe a complete inner orientation. The mind turns toward Krishna. The heart holds devotion. Actions become offerings. The whole being bows — not out of obligation, but out of love. When all four converge, the person is no longer walking toward Krishna. They are already there.

And then: 'satyam te pratijane' — I give you My solemn promise. In the entire Gita, Krishna has taught, explained, reasoned, and revealed. Here, for the first time, He makes a vow. And He seals it with 'priyo asi me' — you are dear to Me. The vow and the love are inseparable.

This shloka is nearly identical to Gita 9.34. The same four instructions appear there. But here two phrases are added: 'satyam te pratijane' (I truly promise you) and 'priyo asi me' (you are dear to Me). This deliberate repetition, with deepened intimacy, shows how the Gita circles back to its core truths with increasing emotional force.

Shlokas 18.65 and 18.66 together form the twin petals of the Gita's innermost teaching. 18.65 is the instruction. 18.66 is the ultimate assurance.
