More qualities of knowledge follow. Unwavering devotion to Krishna — a bhakti that does not wander from one fascination to another. And a natural preference for quiet places. Where there is no noise or crowd, the mind can descend inward and actually think.

The disinterest in crowds is not about disliking people. It is about needing space. A serious writer needs quiet to do deep work. A seeker needs a still environment to hear the subtler truths.

This verse places bhakti among the marks of knowledge — a significant point. In the Gita's framework, knowledge and devotion are not separate tracks. A genuine knower's devotion arises naturally and stays steady.

In the Gita Press edition, this is the eleventh shloka. The phrase 'avyabhicharini bhakti' (unwavering devotion) also appears in Gita 8.22.
