The wind purifies — it carries away stale air, brings fresh breath, sustains life. Among all purifiers, the wind is primary. Rama — among all who bear weapons, He stands first. According to the Valmiki Ramayana, Rama is dharma embodied in human form. Whether this refers to Parashurama or to the Rama of Ayodhya, both are supreme in their domain.

The makara — the crocodile — rules the waters with unmatched strength. And among rivers, the Ganga. The Ganga is far more than a river in the tradition. She is a mother, a purifier, a life-giver. The Puranas call her the destroyer of sins. To name her as a vibhuti is to honour all that she represents.

The Ganga's story appears in the Bhagavata Purana, the Mahabharata, and the Bala Kanda of the Valmiki Ramayana — where Bhagiratha's tapas brings her down to earth.

Rama is mentioned only once in the Gita. According to the Valmiki Ramayana, He is the embodiment of dharma — which is why among all warriors He is named as the divine vibhuti.
