Giram asmy ekam aksharam — among all words, I am the single syllable Om. This is one of the most celebrated vibhutis in the list. Om is the sound that arises without moving the lips. It is the seed-sound of Brahman, the foundation from which all language grows. Every other word is built on it.

Among sacrifices, japa yajna — the sacrifice of silent repetition. No fire pit needed, no elaborate materials. Just the mind repeating the divine name — that is the highest sacrifice. The Himalaya — immovable, enduring, snow-crowned — stands as the vibhuti among all things that do not move. Three vibhutis, three different registers: sound, practice, and the physical world.

This shloka spans four categories: sages, speech, sacrifice, and geography. Naming japa yajna as the foremost sacrifice is an important marker in the Gita's devotional tradition.

Chapters 3 and 4 describe many forms of sacrifice. In 10.25, japa is called the highest — a clear indication that the Gita values inner devotion over elaborate external ritual.
