Among the eleven Rudras, Shankara — Shiva — stands foremost. Krishna, speaking as Vishnu's avatar, names Shiva as His own vibhuti. There is no rivalry here, no ranking of one deity above another. In the Gita's vision, all gods are expressions of the same underlying reality.

Mount Meru, considered the axis of creation in the Puranas. Kubera, the guardian of wealth, among the Yakshas and Rakshasas. Fire among the Vasus. In every category, the one that stands tallest, that defines the group — that is the divine at work. Once this lens is in place, the world never looks quite the same.

The inclusion of Shankara (Shiva) as a vibhuti is significant. It demonstrates the Gita's theological balance — Shaiva and Vaishnava traditions are held within a single vision, with no sectarian preference.

Mount Meru is mentioned only once in the Gita. The Puranas describe it at length. Its inclusion here honours its place in the traditional cosmology.
