A lotus lives in water but the water never wets its petals. Krishna says: actions do not cling to Me because I have no desire for their results. Where there is no craving, there is no bondage. The action happens, but nothing sticks.

And here is the gift: this is not Krishna's exclusive privilege. Whoever understands this truth — that desireless action does not create bondage — that person too is freed from the chains of karma. The principle works for anyone willing to let go of the longing for results.

In 4.13, Krishna declared Himself the creator yet the non-doer. Here He explains the mechanism: the absence of desire for fruits. No desire means no attachment; no attachment means no bondage.

The next shloka (4.15) encourages Arjuna to follow the example of ancient seekers who acted with this understanding and achieved liberation.
