with your whole being, with all your heart

supreme peace
शाश्वतम् स्थानम्

प्राप्स्यसि
you will attain

After revealing that the Lord sits in every heart, Krishna draws the natural conclusion: take refuge in that very Lord. Not partially. Not with reservations. With your whole being — 'sarvabhavena.' By His grace, you will reach supreme peace and the eternal abode.

The word 'sarvabhavena' is the key that unlocks this shloka. Half-hearted surrender does not open the door. A person standing in a doorway, one foot in and one foot out, is neither inside nor outside. Krishna asks for full entry — mind, heart, will, and trust, all offered together.

And what is the result? Not merely heaven. Not merely a temporary reward. 'Shashvatam sthanam' — an abode beyond time. A peace that does not rise and fall with circumstances. This is what Krishna holds out to the one who surrenders completely.

This shloka serves as the direct prelude to the Charama Shloka (18.66). The teaching of sharanagati (surrender) begins building here and reaches its climax four verses later. The structure is deliberate — Krishna prepares the ground before delivering the most sacred promise of the Gita.

'Shashvatam sthanam' — the eternal abode — is a term for moksha. It is not a geographical location but a state beyond the reach of time and change.
