Krishna completes the portrait. The gunatita stands equal when honoured and when insulted. They hold no bias between those who call themselves friends and those who stand in opposition. They have given up all undertakings motivated by personal desire. Such a person, Krishna declares, is truly beyond the gunas.
The previous shloka covered sorrow-joy, dirt-gold, praise-blame. This shloka adds honour-dishonour and friend-foe. Together, they cover every axis along which the mind usually swings. The gunatita does not swing on any of them.
"Sarvarambha-parityagi" does not mean giving up all action. It means giving up the impulse to start new ventures driven by "what will I get out of this?" The gunatita may be deeply active, but the engine of their action is not personal craving. It is a quiet, spontaneous response to what the moment requires.
