Krishna pauses and draws a line under what has been said so far. The field, knowledge, and the knowable — all three have been explained briefly. Whoever is devoted to Krishna and truly understands these reaches His own nature.

'Madbhava' means 'My state' — a tender word for liberation. It is as if a teacher says, 'You will become like me.' This shloka ties knowledge and devotion together into a single thread.

This verse closes the first major section of the chapter. From 13.1 through 13.18, the field, knowledge, and the knowable have been covered. This shloka summarizes their fruit.

In the Gita Press edition, this is the nineteenth shloka. The next section (from verse 20 onward) turns to the relationship between Prakriti and Purusha.
