About

What is this

Saral Aastha is a small, quiet website. It brings together India's ancient legends, the twelve Jyotirlingas, Char Dham, Shakti Peethas, tirtha kshetras, and Panchatantra stories — all in simple language.

We wanted to create a calm space for grandparents, children, and anyone who loves these stories. A place where you can read them the way you'd read a quiet book — no ads, no noise, no distractions of any kind.

Who is it for

We built this website with three people in mind. Grandparents who want to read on their phones. Children who love stories. And adults who want to read the original legends directly, without layers of commentary.

That's why the text is large, the language is simple, and the pages load gently. Nothing here is in a hurry.

Sources

Every legend here is drawn from ancient Indian texts — Shiva Purana, Vishnu Purana, Skanda Purana, Padma Purana, Brahma Purana, Brahmavaivarta Purana, Markandeya Purana, Matsya Purana, Bhavishya Purana, Bhagavata Purana, other Puranas, Valmiki Ramayana, Vyasa Mahabharata, and the Panchatantra. These are all public-domain ancient texts.

We do not use content from any modern author, commentator, or translator. Every page clearly names the source of its legend.

Where two different traditions exist, we mention both. We do not declare one right and another wrong.

Our editorial stance

This website is written in a purely positive and neutral tone. We make no claims about any place, tradition, or text — not about spiritual merit, and not about any kind of benefit.

We simply describe what a particular text says, and what devotees have traditionally done. Readers can decide for themselves whether to follow these traditions or not.

Is this a sect or organisation

No. Saral Aastha is an independent information publication. It has no connection to any math, temple, trust, guru, swami, or modern religious organisation.

We are not affiliated with any living or contemporary religious figure. When we mention a historical figure — such as Adi Shankaracharya or Valmiki — it is purely as historical context.

We do not speak on behalf of any temple trust, religious board, or administrative body. If a modern organisation (such as TTD or a Shrine Board) is named on any page, it is a factual administrative reference — without any criticism, endorsement, or evaluation.

Do you teach puja vidhi or vrat

No. We do not advise any puja vidhi (ritual procedure), vrat (observance), mantra, or ritual practice. We only describe what devotees have traditionally done at a particular place — this is description, not instruction.

If you need guidance on puja or vrat, please consult your family elders, your local pujari, or a trusted traditional source.

Does this website make any claims

No. We do not claim that visiting a particular place, reciting a particular mantra, or observing a particular vrat will bring any specific benefit or outcome.

We do not endorse any kind of miraculous claims. We simply state what is mentioned in which text and which tradition.

Do we write about controversial topics

No. We do not write about any subject that is currently part of a legal, political, or communal dispute.

We only present facts based on ancient texts. If any reader feels that information on a page is incomplete or inconsistent, please let us know — we will make corrections.

Ads, tracking, and privacy

There are no ads on this website. No login, no forms, no cookies. We do not collect any personal information.

We only need to know which pages people find useful — so we can make the website better. For this, we use Vercel's anonymous traffic-counting service, which does not set cookies and does not store anyone's identity. Only aggregate numbers — like how many times a page was viewed.

For full details, see our privacy policy.

We do not accept donations. We do not sell anything. This website is completely free and will remain free.
